Entering the contest is easy: Simply submit your picture to happening@astrokennels.net or DM us on any social media.

All photos will be gathered into an album and voting will start on the 15th.

Not enough time to take a photo? We got you! Book your dog for a full day of daycare wearing their costume and we will take a photo in our spooky booth for you!

There's no excuse not to join in the fun. Let's give your dogs treats for all their tricks! We cannot wait to see what you'll come up with.

Winners will be announced on October 31st.

Winter Training Camp

Training Camp is back for another season this Winter! This camp includes four days of customized day board and train plus a group class.

How does it work: Pick 3 skills from our Training Menu and we do the rest. Don't worry, though, we'll host a group graduation class at the end of the week to teach you everything you need to know to handle your dog at home.

How to sign up: Click here to be redirected to our Customer Portal. Once we've received your payment you will get an email with more details and a questionnaire about your dogs and the skills you'd like to work on.

Price: $150

When: Mauldin: December 8th-11th & Five Forks: December 15th-18th

Drop off: Between 7am-9am

Pick up: Between 5pm-7pm

Notes: This is a day camp. Overnight boarding is available upon request for an additional fee.

Training camp is for obedience only. Aggression issues need an assessment and will not be addressed during this camp.

New Remote Collar Obedience class!

Increase the reliability of your dog's obedience with our remote collar class. This four-week class educates owners on how to effectively reinforce desired behaviors and correct unwanted behaviors. A remote collar is an excellent tool for establishing clear and precise communication between you and your best friend. To enroll in this class, your dog must be at least 6-months-old and it is required that your dog wears the remote collar intermittently while supervised for at least one week (two weeks is ideal) prior to the first class. This will help prevent your dog from becoming "collar wise" and only responding to commands when they know the collar is on. While it is not required, it is recommended that your dog has an understanding of basic obedience commands prior to taking the remote collar class. This class will begin February 7th, 2018 at 6:30pm at our Five Forks location and will run for four weeks. Pricing: $299 per dog, pre-registration is required prior to first class. The price of the class includes the Mini Educator remote collar by E-Collar Technologies. Instructors: Stephanie Sargent and Colin Fendley.

We are excited to announce that effective November 1st, 2017 we will begin offering overnight dog boarding at our Mauldin location. Overnight boarding is priced at $30 per day (holiday rates will apply) for a spacious 5'x5' indoor kennel. This rate will include four outdoor walks per day on the plush AstroTurf as well as a bath prior to pick-up. While boarding you can also add training, play times, or additional grooming services for your dog. With so many owners struggling with their dogs, finally a no-nonsense way to communicate, train and connect with your dog for real results.

Even the most out of control dogs can be quite easily trained in a short period of time utilizing the correct tools, techniques and philosophies. In this seminar, among many other skills, you will learn the unique Calm on Command training style that so many of Jeff's clients love. Most bad behavior is caused by simple lack of structure, leadership and proper communication between dog and owner.

Jeff breaks down to a very simple process of YES/NO, train what you want your dog to do and stop what you don't want your dog to do. Find the motivation for both and you will accelerate you and your dogs relationship.

In this seminar, Jeff will utilize the triage model. No matter the issue or problem behavior, you are welcome to bring your dog to this seminar. Dock Diving Happy Hour: June 28th - 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Dogs, drinks, and dock diving! Join This two hour session is open to all levels and is the perfect place to practice or try dock diving for the first time. Guests 21+ may bring their own alcoholic beverages. This special practice session is $10 per dog. Dogs must be at least 6-months-old, and current on all required vaccinations.

Paint Your Pet: July 22nd - 6:30pm - 9:30pm

Paint a portrait of your pet with Greenville’s Wine & Design artists! No worries if you’re not an artist. You’ll submit a picture of your pet at least one week before the event which allows the artists to prep your canvas. We will be offering light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments to start our fun night off! Guests 21 or over may bring their own alcohol. Astro Air Dogs Summer Showdown: July 30th - 9:00am - 5:00pm

This competition will feature cash prizes for event winners!! Compete in all three Astro Air Dog dock diving events: American Air (distance), Liftoff (height), and Need for Speed (speed). Enjoy the local vendors on-site. Pre-registration will close on July 22nd. Two jumps per flight, $18 per flight (pre-registration) or $20 per flight (day of). K9 Kadets Summer Camp: August 1st - 5th - Daily 9:00am - 12:00pm

Astro’s K9 Kadets program is back for a fun-filled summer camp for kids ages 6-12! In this hands-on series of classes, your child will learn to train their own dog and become a responsible pet owner. Each day will feature a different activity like obedience training, pet industry tours and talks, dock diving, real world agility, and more! Astro Air Dogs Open House Results!

We want to thank everyone that came out to the Astro Air Dogs Open House event! We had over 60 dog and handler teams compete! Each pup enjoyed their first jump free, and from those who added additional jumps for $5 per jump, we were able to raise $260 to benefit the Greenville County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit. We also want to give a special shout-out to our wonderful judge, Dean Lake, and the demo's, Deb & Laurie, who attended the event with their fabulous dogs. Here are the event results:

Watch the 4th Ranked Dock Diver, Doni, at the Open House event!

It all started about 6 years ago when Deb Feller and her partner, Laurie, attended at dockdog competition at SEWE (Southeast Wildlife Expo) in Charleston.

Both were thrilled by the dogs and and the competitive nature of the event. Deb said, "the next water loving pup we have, is going to do this!"

Time passed and 1 year later Deb was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Four surgeries and six months of chemotherapy later, Deb was exhausted and somewhat defeated. Laurie had a plan, puppies! Puppies make everyone happy! And especially Deb.

Doni, and his litter mate, Sirius's Black (Harry Potter's godfather), came to live with them. During the six weeks post chemo before returning to work Deb spent 24/7 with the pups.Upon Deb's return to work both puppies had all basic commands and we're launching from the side of a pool.

Sirius, was Deb and Laurie's son and daughter-in-laws puppy. When Gentry and Macy (USMC family) were stationed in California, Sirius moved to California with them. Sirius was six months old.

Doni competed in his first dockdog event at two years oldin charleston at SEWE.

He placed in all three disciplines and received a warrior Iron dog score.

Two weeks later, at a Dock Dogs event in Georgetown, SC he shocked every one by scoring first place in Big Air finals and first place Titan Iron dog.

This was the beginning of the Dockdog journey for Team Skinnydip.

Later that year Deb and Doni won 2nd place in Elite division at the 2014 World Championship. Deb and Laurie's granddaughter, Kaitie, won 1st place in Youth Handler division. Kaitie went on to handle Doni in 2015, she and Doni won many accolades. At the 2015 World Championship, Kaitie was name Youth Handler of the year and Doni was awarded Top Ranked Yellow Lab of 2015. Third in speed retrieve and seventh in super elite finals with Kaitie handle lying.

Sirius came home to Charleston in spring of 2015 as Gentry moved duty stations to Buford, SC. Sirius's dockdog training and conditioning started immediately. His first event was SEWE 2015. He was successful in all three events, and had a warrior ID score. His journey took him and Macy to the 2015 world championship, Sirius place first in every discipline he entered. 1st cadet EV, 1st warrior ID.

Team Skinnydip has two more members of the pack. Fitzgerald (Fitz) his handler, Amanda Feller, is Deb's cousin. He is an exuberant 18 month old that holds a great deal of promise. He placed first place in Speed retrieve and first place in Master big air finals at Georgetown SC April 9, 2016.

The newest addition to the pack is Ella, she is a 6 month old "goldador" golden/lab hybrid. She is handled by Laurie and Kaitie. Ella successfully competed at Georgetown in speed retrieve and big air.

Photography sessions will be booked for 10 minutes each for $20 and are open to pets and families. You will receive digital copies of your pictures included in the session fee. Wash & Dry Fundraiser!

We are so blown away by the generosity of our customers in supporting Greenville County Animal Care! So many of you donated funds and much-needed items for GCAC! This morning we dropped off a check for $535.00 and over 250 pounds of dog food! We reached out to our community to help GCAC in a time of need and you certainly delivered!

Wash & Dry Fundraiser!

GCAC has been hard at work providing temporary housing and support to the displaced animals of the tragic South Carolina flooding. Drop your dog off for a bath & blow-out for $10 on the 15th. We will be donating 100% of our proceeds from baths on Thursday, October 15th to GCAC. Call to schedule an appointment, add to a boarding or day boarding visit, or drop-in with your dog! Pet Wellness Day at Astro!

This event will showcase holistic pet food vendors, local veterinarians, pet chiropractic information, essential oils for pets, dog training demonstrations, and other healthy pet practices. Astro will be offering free swim times for your dogs in our indoor heated doggie swimming pool! This event is free for guests, if your dog has never been to Astro before please bring a copy of updated vaccination records.

One of six CACs in the state, Dr. J has been helping a variety of animals from the backyard pet to those competing at international levels. Whether you have an older dog, conformation dog, or an agility dog competing on the World Team, imbalances in the spine can impact the health of your animal in negative ways. Restoring spinal imbalance can help your animal function as best as possible! Dr. J will be at Astro every other Tuesday afternoon beginning June 9th between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm taking on dog chiropractic patients. Astro Kennels Open House & K-9 Fundraiser

Astro Kennels will be unveiling our recently finished addition! We will be giving guided tours of the new facility, and for each person that takes a tour Astro will be donating $1 to Foothills Search & Rescue, and $1 to the Simpsonville Police Department K-9 Unit. We will be offering free swim times for the dogs in our indoor doggie swimming pool, and door prizes for the owners! Also, check out the pet food vendors, animal chiropractor, and Astro trainers in attendance!

Wine & Design Night

Astro is hosting a fun night of art! Greenville's own "Wine and Design" studio will be bringing their "Design on Wheels" out to Astro Kennels. This exciting event is set for Friday, June 12th at 7:00pm. A beautiful beach themed dog silhouette portrait will be the design piece for all. We will be offering light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments to start our fun night off! If you are 21 or over, you may bring your own alcohol. Puppy Announcement!

These two German Shepherds both come from working bloodlines. Nolen was imported from Holland and is an odor detection dog, and Ellie was imported from Slovakia and is trained in disaster and odor detection. Puppies are expected to arrive around June 7th. New AKC Training Classes!

Beginning June 10th, Astro will be offering four new AKC classes. These classes are AKC Rally Advanced/Excellent Class, AKC Open/Utility Class, AKC Rally Novice Class, and AKC/UKC Beginner Novice and Companion Dog Titling Class. These classes will be taught by AKC judges Paula Rellihan and Beth Patterson. For more information and a schedule on these classes please visit our training page !

Our new state-of-the-art training facility is open! The training building features eight large holding kennels, K-9 training grass, and a huge open training area. Stay turned for new classes and seminars that we will be holding regularly in our new facility!
