1. Astro Air Dogs Dock & Competition Rules


a. Dog Rules & Requirements


i. Competing dogs must be at least six months old.
ii. All dogs on-site must have current vaccinations for Rabies, DHPP, and Bordatella.
 iii. Dogs who are in heat, dogs with severe aggression tendencies, or an injured dog are not eligible to compete. Examples of disqualifying injuries are limping, open wounds, or stitches.
 iv. It is strongly recommended that your dog is a confident swimmer before you attempt dock diving.
 v. Astro Kennels Air Dogs Hold Harmless must be signed before dogs or handlers approach the dock.


b. Dog Equipment
 i. All dogs must be on a 4’ or 6’ leash at all times. No retractable leashes.
 ii. Dogs must remain on-leash at all times until they are on the dock. Only one dog is permitted off-leash at any one time.
 iii. Choke collars, prong collars, martingale collars with chain, harnesses, and electronic collars are not permitted on the dock. A dog is only allowed to wear a flat collar during competition.
 iv. Dog vests and life jackets are permitted.


c. Dog Categories and Jump Divisions
 i. There are two dog categories: small and large dog. A small dog measures 17” or shorter from the top point of the shoulder down to the ground while standing.
ii. Large Dog Jump Divisions:
  • Division 1: 0'1" - 14'11"
  • Division 2: 15'0" - 23'11"
  • Division 3: 24'0" and above
iii. Small Dog Jump Divisions
  • Division 1: 0'1" - 8'11"
  • Division 2: 9'0" - 17'11"
  • Division 3: 18'0" and above 
d. Handler Requirements
i. Competition is open to handlers seven years old and up. Youth handlers are those ranging in age from seven to 17. Youth handlers under 10 must be accompanied by their parent/guardian on the dock.
ii. Only two handlers are permitted on the dock at a time (one to hold the dog while the other throws the toy).
iii. Only the handlers and the competing dog are allowed on the dock during competition.


e. General Rules
i. Do not push your dog into the water.
ii. Retrieving objects must float and cannot be edible.
iii. Event judge(s) have full discretion to excuse a competitor for various reasons such as unsportsmanlike conduct, pushing dog into pool, etc. 
iv. Unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated.
v. Dog food and treats are not permitted on the dock.
vi. Entry fees are non-refundable.
vii. Dogs must jump off of the dock platform and not from the ramp to receive a score.
viii. In the case of a tie, each team’s second longest (American Air)/highest (Liftoff) jump or fastest time (Need for Speed) will be used as a tiebreaker.
